The design of N- line Tensioner and Wire Rope Tensioner is used to ensure a pre-defined tension to the marine riser and to operate rig motions such as heave, roll or pitch.

Because N- line Tensioner Cylinder is installed directly in the splash zone with partly submerged piston rods, excellent corrosion protection is necessary.
The Ultraplate coating guarantees premium corrosion protection as well as high durability for the continuously moving rods. Hunger DFE seal and relevant elements are used to provide long life properties.
For another special features, it is able to improve the reliability of externally adjustable seal, absolute position measuring system, special ball joints allowing the tilt movement in any direction and the nitrogen loaded accumulators with rupture disc and temperature safety valve.

Main features of the Hunger Offshore Crane Cylinder are:
  • Different corrosion resistant rod coatings are available, exactly adjusted to the application in variously extreme enviroments. (Ni/Cr layer, thermic sprayed Carbides and Oxides / Ceramic or Ultraplate Plus Coating)
  • Critical Cylinder components related to corrosion are specially treated to optimize corrosion resistance.
  • Stainless Steel Piping and Manifold Block are applied for safety and load control function.
  • Equipped with wear-resistant Hunger Seal and bearing elements, It has low wear and friction with stick-slip free when the crane is operated.
  • It's designed with high working pressure over 400 bar.
It's applied for safe lifting of products from drillship and other offshore rigs. It's able to minimize the risk of swaying loads in harsh weather conditions with the knuckle boom crane solution.
The lifted load in operation is under the permanant hydraulic control. The load control valve which is directly mounted at the special cylinder guarantees that there is no uncontrolled movement of main boom or kuckle boom arm.
A Typical Knuckle Boom Crane is operated with the 4 cylinders in total (2 knuckle boom cylinders and 2 main boom cylinders).

For water level control for flood protection in modern dams hydraulic drive systems with hydraulic cylinders are mainly used to gate movement and positioning.

This can be done according to the usual DIN and ASME standards but also regional standards as well as special customer requests can be considered. The necessary functions for load holding, synchronisation and safety will be realized with manifold blocks which are mainly direct flanged to the hydraulic cylinders. Through the optional possible engineering and production of hydraulic manifold blocks as well as of the associated power packs we can offer our costumers complete systems solutions for civil engineering. An actual reference list, representing our decades of experience from more than 100 projects, is available on request.

For hydraulic drives located close to water high demands according to reliability, corrosion protection or environmental compatibility have to be kept.
These demands can be fulfilled by using modern piston rod coatings like the Ceraplate Coating, Ulterplate Plus Coating by using special Hunger Seal and guiding elements for environment friendly hydraulic fluids or by using maintenance free spherical bearings in stainless steel quality and related control block and limit / positioning sensor and Hydraulic Power Unit, electroic control system as well with site installation and commission

- AGC (Automatic Gauge Control) - Roll Force Cylinder
Roll Force Cylinder is operated in the tough environment of steel mills, used in the manufacture of sheet and bar stock. Smooth and efficient operation of this cylinder is the important feature with reliability and long life.
At the initial design phase the focus is on a very robust design incorporating wear resistant bearing materials and optimized low friction sealing elements. Control manifold blocks with servo control valves, safety valves and pressure sensors can also be provided with Roll Force and AGC Cylinders.

- Work Roll Change Cylinder
Work Roll Change Cylinder is used to extract old roll sets from the mill stand and to insert new roll sets.
The roll change depends on roll wear scale, the number of slabs or if the steel grade being rolled is changed. Even though the cylinder is not directly used in the mill process, its continuous availability and reliability are very important to shortesten roll change out times.

- Mandrel Expansion Cylinder
As Mandrel Expansion Cylinder is rotated with the mandrel and coil, it requires a hydraulic rotary distributor to be flanged to the bottom of cylinder to provide oil into the cylinder.
The cylinder and the rotary distributor must be performed reliably, and maintained throughout the steel sheet coiling process.

Standard are self guided, anti rotation fire fighting cylinders with integrated feed of water and extinguishing agent as well as electrical lines for the monitor remote control.

The Cylinder of Hunger Group is manufactured by applying special coating methods such as Ceraplate, CeraplatePlus, and UltraplatePlus, which are resistant to corrosion even in harsh environments such as exposure to moisture and seawater.

The basic coating for piston rods is the hard chrome plating, which is carried out by electroplating in single or multiple layers. Piston rods in length of up to 20 meters and diameters up to 1,500 mm are hard chrome plated in deep chrome bathes.

Piston rods, axles, valves and rolls may have a severely reduced life when installed in aggressive environments such as hydromechanical equipment, mining industry, paper mill and printing industry). In addition to conventional surface protection systems such as hardening, nitriding, hard chrome plating and nickel plating, Hunger has developed a coating technology which signifi cantly improves surface Protection against chemical attack and mechanical wear and tear: Ceraplate

The Ultraplate coating is especially developed for the offshore industry to withstand the extremely corrosive saltwater environment . This coating is suitable to protect carbon steel, working in submerged saltwater conditions or in the splash zone. Additional advantages of Ultraplate are an extremely high adhesion to the rod material, excellent wear properties as well as the possibility to repair partial damage of the coating locally.
